Mindy Tatera M.D. I Arizona has become my home and I can’t imagine living anywhere else. Living in the far west valley, where you can still see the stars at night, has captivated me. Originally from Wisconsin, I return regularly to catch up with family, go to Packer games, and, of course, bring home cheese curds to friends in Phoenix. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin in Madison obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Bacteriology. My research focused on viral and bacterial infections and the use of interferon and probiotics. I remained at the University of Wisconsin for medical school. As my studies progressed, I became interested in primary care. During Internal Medicine residency at Good Samaritan, I considered a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology and went so far as to interview around the country, awed by the strength of the human spirit in the face of terminal cancer. After long nights agonizing over this difficult decision, I followed my heart to primary care, right here at home in Arizona. The rewards of establishing meaningful, long-term partnerships with patients far outweigh any other pursuits. I am particularly interested in providing quality, comprehensive care—including preventative—to those reluctant to see a doctor. I envision myself easing patients into healthy living, providing “painless” medicine. I enjoy camping and Arizona has so many areas to explore. Last season the pool league in which I play took third place; this season we are shooting for #1.
