I originally came to Arizona because of my involvement in the Indian Health Service, a Public Health Service commitment which helped me finance my medical education. I had assumed that I would return to the University of Pittsburgh, would become a medical sub-specialist, and would eventually practice medicine in the northeast. However, my life took a different turn, and my goals changed. I have since made my life’s work practicing internal medicine where my patients have been, and continue to be, my greatest teachers.

Despite all of the recent changes in the practice of medicine, stemming from insurance, pharmaceutical, and governmental influences, I continue to feel privilege beyond measure to be able to come to the office each day, to connect with my patients and their families, to get a glimpse of their physical and spiritual lives, and to assist them in making the best decisions they can to enhance their health.

In addition to being able to practice medicine, I have been blessed with a wonderful family life. I have been very happily married since 1980. Our two children have good character, unbridled spirit, and proud parents.
